Strong Girl Nam-soon is the latest South Korean drama series on Netflix that premiered on October 7, 2023. A spin-off to Strong Girl Bong-soon, the new K-drama series features a fresh on-screen couple who has now become fans’ new favorite pair.
Only two episodes have been released so far, and viewers are already praising the chemistry between the lead cast members, Lee Yoo-mi (as Gang Nam-soon) and Ong Seong-wu (as Kang Hee-sik).
Directed by Kim Jung-sik, the K-drama centers around a young girl with superhuman strength returning to Korea after 15 years in search of her birth family. However, she becomes entangled in a drug case, that involves her grandmother and mother. She befriends a lieutenant/detective who promises to help her find her family. The detective will eventually work with all three generations of her family to catch the drug lord.

Fans root for Hee-sik and Nam-soon
Since the premiere of Strong Girl Nam-soon’s two episodes, fans have gone gaga over the chemistry between the lead characters, Kang Hee-sik and Gang Nam-soon. From their first encounter to first glance and meeting again, viewers are swooning.
They praised the couple on Twitter (now X), claiming that Hee-sik has started developing feelings for Nam-soon. One user wrote, “He’s already down bad for her,” while another mentioned, “They just started to meet but I can feel the sweet chemistry from this couple .. my weekend will feel with laughter and flutter moment of them.”

Strong Girl Nam-soon Episodes 1 & 2 Recap
In the first two episodes on Netflix, Gang Nam-soon returns to Korea and shows her superhuman strength at the airport by stopping an airplane. Lieutenant Kang Hee-sik questions Nam-soon at the airport as he suspects drugs in her baggage. After clearing the misunderstanding, she confesses that she is in search of her birth family, and in response, Hee-sik promises to help her.
The second episode features the pair’s second encounter where Hee-sik helps Nam-soon find a scammer. With all the potential of being the perfect K-drama couple, the two will be seen growing closer to each other in the upcoming episodes.
The official synopsis of Strong Girl Nam-soon reads: “Gifted with superhuman strength, a young woman returns to Korea to find her birth family — only to be entangled in a drug case that could test her power.”
To note, the titular character is the cousin of Strong Girl Bong-soon’s Bong-soon. Fans might expect the cameos of the 2017 series’ lead cast, Park Bo-young as Do Bong-soon and Park Hyung-sik as An Min-hyuk, in the spin-off.
Meanwhile, episodes 3 and 4 of Strong Girl Nam-soon are set to air on October 14 and 15 on Netflix.
