Manoj Bajpayee’s Gangs of Wasseypur is re-releasing this Friday

Gangs of Wasseypur will hit theaters again for a special one-week run from August 30 to September 5. This announcement came directly from director Anurag Kashyap via his Instagram. Kashyap’s post featured iconic official posters of both parts of the film, featuring cast members Manoj Bajpayee and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The announcement was met with overwhelming enthusiasm, as fans flooded the comments with their anticipation for the re-release. Many expressed their excitement about experiencing the film in theaters again. Meanwhile, some even started speculating about the strong box office response it might receive. The nostalgia surrounding Gangs of Wasseypur has only grown stronger over the years, and the re-release is expected to draw huge crowds.

Gangs of Wasseypur is more than just a film. This two-part intergenerational revenge saga, which was first released in 2012, has earned a permanent place in the annals of Indian cinema. The film, which stars Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role, also features an ensemble cast of then-budding stars. It includes Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Richa Chadha, Huma Qureshi, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, and Jaideep Ahlawat.

The film was originally screened in its entirety at the 2012 Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, marking it as one of the few Hindi movies to achieve this honor. Additionally, its reception at various international film festivals was overwhelmingly positive, further cementing its status as a landmark in Indian film history. For those unaware, the movie was initially shot as one continuous piece running 321 minutes. However, due to restrictions on film length in Indian theaters, it was divided into two parts.

Mark your calendars for August 30, as Faizal Bhai is coming back.
