‘We know what our third part will be’: Stree 2 director on next installment

The massive success of Stree 2, which surpassed the $35 million mark at the box office, has set the stage for Stree 3. Director Amar Kaushik revealed that the groundwork for the next film is already in place. He shared, “The universe of Stree is set now. Because of Easter eggs, we know what our third part will be. It’s not written out, but Niren and I made notes and know the flow.”

Kaushik, along with writer Niren Bhatt, is excited about the new directions and storylines for Stree 3. Although specific plot details remain under wraps, Kaushik’s comments suggest that the third film will build on the rich universe established by Stree 2 and the original Stree.

The success of Stree 2 stems from its ability to blend humor with a feminist theme, a hallmark of the franchise. Kaushik notes that while sequels often face skepticism, he and Bhatt found a solid narrative base in the original film. The team carefully developed the backstory of Stree and the character Sarkata to ensure a natural progression into the sequel.

Kaushik is particularly proud of how Stree 2 continues to address themes of female empowerment. He mentions, “Stree 2 doesn’t want to protest at all, it wants to feed your critical thinking.” The film’s climax, which features a symbolic partnership between male and female characters to defeat the demon, underscores the message of unity against patriarchy.

All in all, Stree 3 is gearing up to build on the successful formula of its predecessors.
