Sunil Kumar plays Sarkata in Stree 2: Who is he?
Sunil Kumar, a Jammu-based police constable, plays the role of Sarkata in Stree 2. With a towering height of 7’6”, Sunil is even taller than the famous wrestler Great Khali by five inches. Known as ‘The Great Khali of Jammu,’ Sunil also has a background in wrestling. He wrestles under the name The Great Angaar and participated in WWE Tryouts in 2019.
Director Amar Kaushik sought out an actor who could physically embody the towering menace of Sarkata. “The casting team found him,” Kaushik revealed in an interview with Bollywood Hungama. “We wanted a man with such a height, and he fit the bill. We used his body shots while the face of Sarkata was generated through CGI.”
While Sarkata’s fearsome visage was created with CGI, it was Sunil Kumar’s physical presence that brought the character to life. In Stree 2, Sarkata’s role is central to the plot, as he terrorizes the town by abducting women with progressive views. To counter this threat, the character Stree returns, continuing the franchise’s blend of horror and comedy.
Apart from Kumar, the film also features Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana, and Abhishek Banerjee. The latest addition to Maddock’s supernatural universe also boasts cameo appearances by Akshay Kumar, Varun Dhawan, and Tamannaah Bhatia. Furthermore, it has achieved great success since its release on Independence Day. Stree 2 has grossed nearly $44 million worldwide, solidifying its status as a major hit.
