Ananya Panday’s Call Me Bae Trailer Gives Plot Sneak Peek

The trailer for Ananya Panday‘s upcoming web series, Call Me Bae, dropped on Tuesday, August 20. Offering a glimpse into the series’ intriguing plot, the show marks Panday’s OTT debut. Moreover, the trailer reveals a reverse take on the classic rags-to-riches narrative.

What is Ananya Panday’s Call Me Bae’s release date?

Call Me Bae is gearing up to stream on Amazon Prime Video from September 6, 2024. The series follows Ananya Panday as she steps into the shoes of a South Delhi heiress who faces a dramatic life change after losing her fortune.

The trailer reveals Panday’s character, a privileged young woman from South Delhi who suddenly finds herself stripped of her wealth and status. With her back against the wall, she relocates to Mumbai, where she must navigate a new way of life—everything from seeking a job as a social media journalist to cleaning her own apartment.

Call Me Bae takes a familiar premise—the rags-to-riches story—and flips it on its head. Creator Ishita Moitra brings a light-hearted, comedic approach to Panday’s character, whose struggles are portrayed with a touch of humor rather than serious drama. As the teaser unfolds, viewers see Panday’s character facing one challenge after another, from the struggles of city life to the reality check she receives from those around her.

Furthermore, the trailer has sparked comparisons to popular American sitcoms like 2 Broke Girls and Schitt’s Creek. In both shows, characters from privileged backgrounds find themselves starting over from scratch, much like Panday’s character in Call Me Bae. The series also carries hints of Emily in Paris, with its portrayal of a young woman navigating a new life in a big city.

In addition to Ananya Panday, Call Me Bae boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Vir Das, Varun Sood, and Gurfateh Pirzada. Furthermore, Vihaan Samat, Lisa Mishra, Niharika Lyra Dutt, Muskkaan Jaferi, and Mini Mathur round out the cast.

As the release date nears, anticipation for Call Me Bae continues to grow.
