What is the release date of John Abraham & Sharvari Wagh’s Vedaa?
After multiple delays, John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh’s Vedaa is gearing up to release on August 15, 2024. As the release date nears, the makers have finally released the much-awaited trailer, giving a sneak peek into what to expect from the upcoming film.
The trailer begins with Major Abhimanyu reciting a powerful shloka from the Bhagavad Gita, setting a tone of righteousness and determination. His character, who was court-martialed for disobeying orders, crosses paths with Vedaa, a young woman from an oppressed caste. However, Vedaa faces brutal harassment from an upper-caste man and his goons, igniting her desire to learn self-defense and fight back.
Abhimanyu becomes her mentor and trains her in combat. On the other hand, Abhishek Banerjee’s character, an influential upper-caste man, humiliates Vedaa and her family, which highlights the harsh realities of caste discrimination. The trailer also shows the brutality of Banerjee’s character and Vedaa’s resolve to fight back, questioning societal norms and the flawed justice system.
The trailer’s climax consists of intense action sequences and emotional dialogue. John’s character, injured but resolute, tells Vedaa, “I am just a sarthi (charioteer). You have to break the chakravyuh (a military formation used to surround the enemy).” A determined and fierce Vedaa then declares, “Even if I don’t survive, I want to die while fighting.”
According to the trailer’s description, the film tells “the story of an uprising, of challenging a draconian system.” Apart from Abraham, Wagh, and Banerjee, Vedaa’s cast also includes Tamannaah Bhatia, who plays Abhimanyu’s love interest. In addition, Mouni Roy makes a special appearance in a dance sequence.
