Dhanush, the acclaimed actor and filmmaker, is currently at the center of a major controversy despite his recent success. His landmark 50th film, Raayan, is performing exceptionally well. However, this success has been overshadowed by recent news that Dhanush has been banned. In other words, he has been issued a red card by the Tamil Film Producers’ Council (TFPC). This article provides a detailed look into why this ban was imposed and its implications.
TFPC issues ban on Raayan actor Dhanush
The Tamil Film Producers’ Council has taken a serious step by banning Dhanush. This action comes in response to a complaint from Sri Thenandal Films, a well-known production house. The complaint alleges that Dhanush abandoned a project after accepting an advance payment and failed to appear for the shoots despite previous commitments.
This issue is not an isolated incident. Reports suggest that Dhanush has faced similar allegations from multiple producers. These producers claim that he accepted advance payments but failed to follow through on his commitments. As a result, the TFPC has placed a ban on Dhanush, which prohibits him from starting any new projects without the council’s approval. This move aims to address and prevent further complications related to unfinished projects and broken commitments.
However, the decision by the TFPC has not gone unchallenged. Nadigar Sangam, the influential association representing Tamil film actors, has expressed strong opposition to the former’s ban on Dhanush. Key members such as Karthi, Karunas, and Poochi Murugan have publicly criticized the TFPC’s unilateral action.
Nadigar Sangam argue that the TFPC did not engage with the Nadigar Sangam. Nor were their members consulted before such a drastic action was taken by the Council. The Nadigar Sangam is now calling for a joint meeting of all Tamil film associations to address the issue and seek a fair resolution.
