All in all, movies so far have delivered different genres, fresh storylines, star-studded and sleeper hits. Collecting all the information on that, IMDb has released a string of exciting lists that includes the most popular Indian films of 2024.

IMDb, a trusted platform with over 250 million monthly visitors, has announced its list of the Most Popular Indian Movies of 2024 (So Far) and the Most Anticipated Indian Movies for the Rest of the Year. These rankings are based on actual page views, reflecting the preferences of a global audience.

Topping the list is the mythological science fiction film, Kalki 2898 AD. Directed by Nag Ashwin, this movie features an ensemble cast including Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Prabhas.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world, the film explores humanity’s survival in a dystopian future. Director Nag Ashwin expressed his gratitude, stating, “It’s a great pleasure and honor for our whole team to be featured on the IMDb list. I think it directly reflects the love of our audience across the world. This inspires us to keep pushing the boundaries.”

Securing the second spot is Manjummel Boys, a Malayalam film based on a true incident from 2006. The story follows a group of friends from Manjummel. They, during a vacation in Kodaikanal, face an unexpected and life-threatening situation involving one of their friends falling into devil’s kitchen (The Guna Caves).

Directed by Chidambaram and featuring Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, and others, the film has been praised for its universal themes of friendship and resilience. “Manjummel Boys is a tale of friendship and a survival thriller, exploring universal themes of triumph against the odds. The film’s visual storytelling transcends language barriers, making it accessible to a global audience. This film is very close to my heart, and the love and overwhelming response from the audience have been truly humbling,” shared Chidambaram.

Fighter, featuring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone secured the third position on the list. One of the highly anticipated releases packed with viral songs has also been touted as India’s first aerial action film. Following closely is the box-office Telugu blockbuster, HanuMan.

Ajay Devgn’s Shaitaan, Kiran Rao’s second directorial Laapata Ladies, and Yami Gautam’s Article 370, follow suit. The IMDb list also features a variety of films such as another unexpected box office hit Premalu, Fahadh Faasil’s massy film Aavesham, and the comedy horror flick Munjya.

Yaminie Patodia, head of IMDb India, highlighted the diversity in the list. “IMDb data indicates a growing appetite for innovative and impactful cinema that captivates viewers in India and globally. The list features a diverse slate with films from different languages, showing audiences are drawn to compelling stories irrespective of language.”

Now, as viewers look forward to the remaining months of 2024, several highly anticipated films are gearing up to hit the screens. According to IMDb, the sequel to the blockbuster Pushpa is undoubtedly the most awaited movie. Featuring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, Pushpa: The Rule – Part 2 is scheduled for release on December 6, 2024.

Another anticipated film is Devara: Part 1, a Telugu movie featuring Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor. Following closely are Akshay Kumar’s Welcome to the Jungle, Thalapathy Vijay’s The Greatest of All Time, and Suriya’s Kanguva.
