Bollywood actors Vicky Kaushal and Triptii Dimri’s film Bad Newz finally hit the big screens on Friday, July 19, 2024, and have since been making good numbers at the box office. As viewers flock to the theatres, many are wondering whether or not Bad Newz is based on a true story.
Directed by Anand Tiwari, the film centers around an unusual pregnancy phenomenon. This dramatic tale is reportedly based on a true incident involving a rare medical condition known as heteropaternal superfecundation.
Which case is Vicky Kaushal’s Bad Newz story based on?
Vicky Kaushal’s Bad Newz reportedly draws inspiration from a real-life case that made headlines in 2022. A 19-year-old Brazilian woman gave birth to twins who had different biological fathers. This unusual situation brought heteropaternal superfecundation, a rare phenomenon, into the spotlight.
Reportedly, a woman from Goias, Brazil, sought a paternity test to confirm the father of her twins. To her surprise, the test revealed that only one of the twins matched the DNA of the man she initially thought was the father. She then recalled having intercourse with another man on the same day. When tested, his DNA matched the second twin.
This biological anomaly occurs when a woman releases two eggs during the same reproductive cycle and engages in intercourse with multiple partners, resulting in each egg being fertilized by a different man.
In Bad Newz, Triptii Dimri’s character faces a similar predicament. She finds herself pregnant and uncertain about the identity of the father. The potential fathers, played by Vicky Kaushal and Ammy Virk, have starkly contrasting personalities. Dimri’s character decides to have both men undergo a paternity test. The twist reveals that both men are the fathers of her baby, thanks to heteropaternal superfecundation.
However, it is to be noted that the makers of the film haven’t confirmed if the film is based on a true story or not.
