Akshay Kumar’s latest film, Sarfira, the Hindi adaptation of Suriya’s Tamil hit Soorarai Pottru, saw a slight uptick in its day 6 box-office collections. Despite receiving relatively positive reviews from critics and audiences, the film has struggled to keep up at the box office.
The film is currently contending with stiff competition from major releases like Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD and Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2. In addition, Vicky Kaushal’s Bad Newz will soon be added to the contenders.
Sarfira box office collection day 6: How much did Akshay Kumar’s movie earn?
On its sixth day in theaters, Sarfira recorded a modest increase in its box office collections. The film brought in $257 thousand, showing a 10.26% increase in audience numbers compared to the previous day. This brings the movie’s total domestic collection to $20.9 million. While the rise in earnings is encouraging, the overall performance of the film has been underwhelming.
Directed by Sudha Kongara and featuring a stellar cast, including Radhika Madan, Paresh Rawal, Seema Biswas, and Suriya, Sarfira had high expectations riding on it. The film premiered on July 12, 2024, but its initial box office numbers were among the lowest in Akshay Kumar’s career over the past 15 years.
After a rocky start, the film showed some positive signs over the weekend. Saturday’s earnings surged by 70%, reaching $508K. The upward trend continued on Sunday, with a 23.53% increase, resulting in $628K in earnings. Despite these gains, Monday saw a significant drop, with earnings plummeting to $173K. On day five, the film’s collection improved slightly to $233K, a 34.48% increase.
Sarfira’s struggle at the box office is intensified by its competition. The film is competing against Prabhas’ pan-Indian release Kalki 2898 AD and Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2. These films have garnered more attention and audience turnout.
