Sarfira box office collection day 3: How much did Akshay Kumar’s movie earn so far?
After a sluggish opening, Sarfira saw a remarkable increase in its box office earnings on Saturday and Sunday. The film, which opened at $299 thousand, experienced a 70% spike on Saturday, bringing in $508 thousand. The upward trend continued on Sunday, with a 23.53% increase, resulting in $628 thousand in earnings.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, by the end of its first weekend, Sarfira had accumulated a total of $1.4 million. Despite this growth, Sarfira remains one of Akshay Kumar’s lower openers in recent times, second only to Selfiee, which had a $1.2 million opening weekend.
The film’s overall occupancy on Sunday, July 14, 2024, was 26.46% in the Hindi version. Sarfira performed exceptionally well in cities like Chennai (40.75% occupancy), Pune (33.50%), Ahmedabad (32.25%), Bengaluru (29%), Mumbai (28.25%), Lucknow (28%), and Jaipur (27.25%). Additionally, Sarfira is currently in contention with Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2.
As of now, Sarfira’s fate will largely depend on its performance in the coming days, especially as it faces the crucial Monday test. Positive reviews and word of mouth could help maintain its upward trajectory. Despite the initial low performance, the film’s steady weekend growth indicates potential for a respectable total in the long run.
For those unfamiliar, Sarfira marks Akshay Kumar’s 150th film. It is the Hindi remake of the award-winning Tamil film Soorarai Pottru, featuring Suriya. Directed by Sudha Kongara, who also helmed the original movie, Sarfira is inspired by the life of Captain G. R. Gopinath, the founder of Deccan Airlines. The film also features Radhika Madan and Paresh Rawal.
