Kamal Haasan‘s latest film, Indian 2, has seen a significant drop in its box office collection on the third day. Despite a strong opening, the movie has struggled to maintain momentum, recording a noticeable decline in earnings over the weekend.
Indian 2 box office collection: How much did Kamal Haasan’s movie earn so far?
Indian 2, which was released on July 12, 2024, had a solid opening day collection of $3 million across all languages. However, the film’s performance has been underwhelming since then, facing a downward trend. On its second day, the collection fell by 28.91%, bringing in $2.1 million. The decline continued on the third day with a further 17.03% drop, resulting in a Sunday collection of $1.8 million.
As of now, Indian 2 has garnered a total domestic collection of $7 million. Reportedly, the Tamil version contributed $4.9 million, the Telugu version brought in $1.6 million, and the Hindi version added $454 thousand. Notably, the Hindi version, titled Hindustani 2, opened with $143 thousand and remained relatively stable, even seeing a slight increase on Sunday.
The mixed reviews from critics and audiences have significantly impacted Indian 2’s box office performance. Despite the high expectations and the star power of Kamal Haasan, the movie has struggled to convert its initial hype into sustained box-office success. Based on the numbers so far, the film’s inability to capitalize on its first weekend has been a major setback. Another factor affecting Indian 2’s box office performance is its clash with Akshay Kumar’s Sarfira, a remake of the National Award-winning Tamil film Soorarai Pottru.
Indian 2, directed by Shankar, is a sequel to the 1996 hit film Indian. Kamal Haasan reprises his iconic role as Senapathy, a freedom fighter who returns to India after more than two decades to combat corruption. The film also features Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, and Kajal Aggarwal in pivotal roles.
