Kalki 2898 AD follows the events of the Mahabharata. The film spans across the time of the Hindu epic and ends in 2898 AD. It is set in Kashi, the world’s first city, where the conditions have become difficult for humans to survive. However, this has resulted in the emergence of a new place, known as the Complex, which has taken all the resources from the Earth.
