Kalki 2898 AD Trailer Scene Plagiarized?

Kalki 2898 AD has been generating substantial buzz for its high-end visuals showcased in the recently released trailer. Amidst this buzz, a South Korean concept artist has accused the makers of plagiarizing his artwork without permission.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, the trailer reveals Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwatthama, who steps in to protect Deepika Padukone’s unborn child. Meanwhile, Prabhas portrays Bhairava, a bounty hunter tasked with capturing Deepika’s character. This results in a fierce clash between Ashwatthama and Bhairava. The storyline, set in a futuristic dystopian world, spans over 6000 years, adding layers of excitement and intrigue.

Since the trailer dropped, netizens have drawn comparisons between Kalki 2898 AD’s visuals and iconic films like Dune and Mad Max: Fury Road. The desert landscapes and battle scenes depicted in the trailer have reminded many viewers of Dune’s aesthetic. Additionally, the action sequences and costume designs have prompted similarities to Mad Max: Fury Road.

For those unaware, Sung Choi is a renowned concept illustrator who has collaborated with Marvel, Disney, and Warner Bros. However, his accusation has sparked a debate among netizens, with some supporting the artist and others defending Kalki 2898 AD’s production house.

One supporter of the filmmakers commented, “Yes, copying is wrong. I am sure the movie team will talk to you about this mistake, and it is not in the movie; it is just the first part of the video that introduces the production house.” Conversely, a supporter of the artist advised, “Please sue them, I have read on Google that they sued a VFX company for leaking the look of Prabhas (actor). If they can sue, you also do it.”

As of now, the makers of Kalki 2898 AD have not responded to these allegations. It remains to be seen how they will address this issue. Stay tuned for further updates on this controversy.
