Among the several Tamil movies on OTT release, some eagerly awaited titles include Aranmanai 4, which promises a continuation of the beloved horror-comedy franchise, and Garudan, which offers intense drama and gripping action. Additionally, the lineup also includes Star, Inga Naan Thaan Kingu, Uyir Thamizhukku, and Kaaduvetty, each bringing a fresh experience to your watchlist.
Star
The Tamil movie Star premiered in theaters on May 10, 2024, and received mostly positive reviews. Directed by Elan, the film follows the story of Kalai, a man aspiring to become a movie star. While depicting his journey, the plot delves into the struggles that newcomers face to enter the cinema industry. Interestingly, some sequences in the film are inspired by actor Vijay’s early career, adding authenticity and depth to the story.
Star features a talented cast including Kavin, Lal, Geetha Kailasam, Aaditi Pohankar, Preity Mukhundhan, and others. Notably, this film marks Kavin’s first release of the year 2024. Regarding its digital release, earlier reports suggested that Star would debut on Amazon Prime Video on June 14. But now, it has been confirmed that Star will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video from June 7, 2024.
Aranmanai 4
The commercially successful Aranmanai 4 is now gearing up for its digital streaming debut. This horror-comedy film stars Tamannaah Bhatia, Raashii Khanna, Ramachandra Raju, Santhosh Prathap, and Sundar in pivotal roles. Directed by Sunder C, Aranmanai 4 has been produced under the joint banner of Benzz Media (P) Ltd. and Avni Cinemax.
Interestingly, the film centers around a spirit known as Baak. According to the beliefs of Assamese folklore, the Baak spirit enjoys killing fish and humans by drowning them. With its unique storyline, Aranmanai 4 is all set to stream on Disney Plus Hotstar. Furthermore, the platform has confirmed that its streaming will commence on June 21 in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam languages.
Inga Naan Thaan Kingu
Inga Naan Thann Kingu, directed by Anand Narayan and starring Santhanam, premiered in theaters on May 17, 2024. The film centers around Vetri, a man who takes out a hefty loan to purchase an apartment. To repay the loan, he plans to marry a girl from a wealthy family to receive a substantial dowry. However, his plans unexpectedly turn when a wealthy Zamindar family sends him a marriage proposal.
Regarding digital streaming details, the makers have not yet announced the specifics. Typically, films debut digitally around 45–60 days after their theatrical release. Therefore, audiences will have to wait a bit longer to experience Inga Naan Thaan Kingu on an OTT platform.
Uyir Thamizhukku
Uyir Thamizhukku, a Tamil political drama, hit theaters on May 10, 2024, alongside other releases like Star and Rasavathi. Directed by Adam Bhava, the film was produced under the joint banner of V. Creations and Moon Pictures. It features Ameer Sultan, Imman Annachi, and Chandini Sreedharan in key roles. The supporting cast includes Anandaraj, Saravana Sakthi, and Ravi Venkatraman.
Despite its release alongside Star, the makers of Uyir Thamizhukku have not yet revealed its streaming details. Therefore, audiences will need to wait for further announcements.
Similarly, Kaaduvetty, released on May 15, 2024, and Garudan, released on May 31, 2024, are yet to make any announcements regarding their OTT debut.
