‘I can’t live without acting’: Panchayat Season 3’s ‘Banrakas’ Durgesh Kumar opines
Panchayat season 3’s ‘Banrakas’ Durgesh Kumar’s journey into acting was not straightforward. In a recent interview, He emphasized the importance of being prepared on multiple fronts—psychologically, physically, mentally, emotionally, and economically. “I have suffered depression twice in 11 years,” Kumar revealed. He candidly advised aspiring actors, “Unless you are not psychologically, economically, and mentally healthy, please don’t come in the acting field. I am being brutally honest about it.”
For those unaware, Kumar made his film debut in 2014 with Imtiaz Ali’s Highway, featuring Alia Bhatt. Despite this initial break, he faced repeated rejections in auditions from 2013 to 2022. Casting directors acknowledged his talent but felt his auditions fell short. To make ends meet, Kumar took roles in adult films. “I can’t live without acting. I did any work that came my way because I was confident in my abilities,” he explained.
Despite having acted in notable films like Sultan and Freaky Ali, Panchayat’s Durgesh Kumar often found himself pleading with casting directors for roles. He recalled his early days, determined to break into the industry at any cost. Now, his character ‘Banrakas’ has become well-known, bringing him long-awaited recognition. The actor noted, “After Panchayat’s fame, I am finally getting work. Nobody takes us in the action genre shows. At least with comedy, we get these chances so it feels very good.”
Panchayat season 3 is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
