It’s perhaps not interesting enough to talk about positives’: Sharmin Segal (Alamzeb) talks about social media trolling
In a recent interview with News18, Sharmin Segal opened up about the online hate she received for her part in Heeramandi. The actor highlighted how she has to work for the audience. She said, “The audience is the king at the end of the day. And as a creative person, it’s very important to acknowledge that. They have a right to their opinion – positive or negative. That’s one thing that gives me perspective and allows me to be okay.”
The Heeramandi actor also added how she also received positive reviews for playing Alamzeb. However, only the negative points were discussed widely, “I had given my all to Alamzeb’s character. We tend to fixate on the negatives but there are so many positives that have also come along, which we don’t talk about. It’s perhaps not interesting enough to talk about positives and we tend to look over them to some degree.”
Sharmin Segal added that she also received a lot of love for doing Heeramandi but could not focus on it due to the trolls. She said, “There was a point when I was not looking at many things [reviews] but then slowly, I realized that I was also missing out on a lot of love that I was getting. I’ve now started paying attention to that. Over the last few days, I decided to look through it all. The audience’s opinion is what will probably help you be the best version of yourself.”
Towards the end of the interview, Sharmin Segal mentioned her overall experience of playing Alamzeb in Heeramandi was great. She got to connect with people through her character, and that is what she cherishes about doing the role.
The cast of Heeramandi also included Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, and Sanjeeda Sheikh.
