Kalki 2898 AD is inching closer to its release date, and its makers and cast are opening up about the movie. While its director Nag Ashwin has already spilled many beans about the film’s plot, Prabhas is now getting candid and talking about its filming process. He recently revealed how the upcoming movie has an expensive budget and spoke about the reason behind the huge sum being spent on it.
Besides Prabhas, Kalki 2898 AD has a huge star cast. While Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of Ashwatthama, Deepika Padukone is the leading lady. Disha Patani also has a supporting role, and Kamal Haasan will appear in an extended cameo. The movie is a mythological sci-fi dystopian drama based on the beliefs of Kali Yug and Kalki. So far, several reports have claimed that the movie’s budget is around $72 million (Rs 600 crores).
Prabhas opens up about working on Kalki 2898 AD
During a chat with Deadline, Prabhas mentioned he is not good at pushing his work to the international level. Further in the chat, the actor highlighted the reason behind Kalki 2898 AD’s massive budget. He confirmed that the movie was made for overseas audiences. Moreover, the massive star cast also increased the film’s budget. He said, “The whole film is made for international [audiences].” “That’s why it’s the highest budget and we’ve got the best actors in the country.”
Prabhas then recalled his reaction when he was told the movie also stars Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan. He said, “I never thought I would work with people like Amitabh Sir and Kamal Sir [at all], let alone in one film.” “When I heard, I called the producer and said, ‘What are you giving me? This is an achievement beyond anything.'”
Following his long spree of starring in movies that released pan-India, Prabhas revealed how it makes him feel good. He said, “We were hearing for the first time people calling me ‘pan-Indian’.” “That doesn’t really affect me but it’s a good feeling to think that people around the country like me now.”
Fans have extremely high expectations for Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD. The movie will be released in the theaters worldwide on June 27, 2024.
