The list has several awaited titles, from family dramas and romances to political and crime thrillers. From the highly anticipated Panchayat: Season 3 to Randeep Hooda’s Swatantra Veer Savarkar, many exciting releases are slated for this week. Here’s the list.
Panchayat Season 3
It is safe to say that Panchayat won millions of hearts with its comedy-drama storyline. The show narrates life in a small village and touches on multiple social issues. The show began in 2020 with Jitendra Kumar playing the lead role of Panchayat Secretary Abhishek Tripathi. Neena Gupta, Raghubir Yadav, Faisal Malik, Chandan Roy, and Sanvikaa portray supporting characters in the show.
The first season of Panchayat received a lot of love from the audience for its light-hearted theme. Therefore, the show’s third season is highly anticipated. Panchayat: Season 3 will showcase the local elections and is expected to send another heart-touching social message.
The official synopsis of Panchayat: Season 3 reads, “As the Panchayat elections approach, both Pradhan and Bhushan gangs engage in a fierce battle to uplift their public image. Navigating the murky waters of Phulera politics, Abhishek does his best to maintain his objectivity.” The new season will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video from May 28.
Swatantra Veer Savarkar
Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda recently played the role of revolutionary freedom fighter Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, aka Veer Savarkar, in the latest film Swatantra Veer Savarkar. Not only did he play the lead role in the film, but he also contributed to its writing and served as its director.
While the title explains that the movie is a biographical drama, it takes the audience through India’s freedom struggle and how Savarkar played a crucial role. Moreover, the British also titled him the most dangerous man in India for his reforming approach, which contrasted with Mahatma Gandhi.
Besides Hooda, the movie also stars Ankita Lokhande, Amit Sial, R Bhakti Klein, Rajesh Khera, Mark Bennington, and more. The film hit the theaters on March 22 but failed to mint good numbers. It is now set for its OTT release. Swatantra Veer Savarkar will arrive on ZEE5 on May 28.
Illegal: Season 3
Neha Sharma is returning to her lawyer role, Niharika Singh, in the new season of Illegal. The courtroom drama began in 2020 and received acclaim from critics and viewers. Its IMDb rating is 8 out of 10, and the upcoming season is expected to amaze the audience.
The series follows the story of Niharika, an infamous lawyer who opposes renowned lawyers to seek justice for her clients. Besides Sharma, the upcoming season also stars Akshay Oberoi as Akshay Jaitley and Piyush Mishra as Janardhan Jaitley. The makers have confirmed that the new season will feature a bigger battle.
Illegal Season 3’s official synopsis reads, “What do you do when justice itself is out of order? A legal drama, set in the lesser-known world of a high-end law firm where justice is measured against billable hours, and the lawyers are seldom on the right side of the law.”
The show is set to arrive on Jio Cinema on May 29.
Uppu Puli Kaaram
Uppu Puli Kaaram is the latest Tamil web series set to arrive soon on DisneyPlus Hotstar. The show, which is touted to be high on romance, comedy, and drama, will be a family entertainer. As per The Hindu, the makers of the upcoming web series revealed its plot details in a press release.
It revealed how the series will follow the story of a hotel owner’s happy family. It read, “Subramani & Subbalakshmi are a happy family with 4 kids. They run a small hotel – Annam Mess on the ground floor of the building they reside in. They live on the first floor of the same building while Subbulakshmi’s brother’s family live on the 2nd floor. Thippu auditions for a web series centered around a father-son relationship but couldn’t emote. He feels that he is not able to emote as he never had fatherly affection as his father abandoned him when he was a kid. He decides to track down his father and spend some time with him as he feels it will help him emote better.” When Thippu lears about his father, that’s where the drama begins in the series.
“He learns that his father’s name is Subramani, and he tracks him down. He lands at UPK mess and confronts his father. Subramani is shocked and feels guilty & responsible for Thippu’s plight. He decides to be the fatherly figure to Thippu. However, the 4 siblings are confused with the arrival of the new guy and the drama unfolds while all of them continue to handle issues in their respective love lives.”
Uppu Puli Kaaram’s OTT release is scheduled on May 30.
Dedh Bigha Zameen
Madgaon Express star Pratik Gandhi will soon play a family-oriented guy named Anil. Helmed by Pulkit, the movie will follow the struggles of a common man who has been wronged by powerful officials. However, he does not give up and fights for justice.
The movie is arriving on Jio Cinema on May 31.
