Ranta initially didn’t receive much acclaim during Kiran Rao’s directorial’s theatrical run. However, the tide turned swiftly after the OTT release of Laapataa Ladies. It propelled the film and its cast, including Pratibha Ranta, into the spotlight with a massive appreciation for their simple yet impactful portrayal of the characters. As Ranta was still basking in her debut success, Netflix released Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s highly-anticipated series, Heeramandi.
Despite her relatively smaller role, Ranta’s performance garnered widespread acclaim, firmly cementing her status as a rising star. In other words, Pratibha Ranta became the talk of the town as Netflix sequentially released Laapataa Ladies and Heeramandi. As aptly described by her, “I did not understand and then it comes on Netflix. Oh my God, after that, only magic happened, and then Heeramandi came. The timing of both things was perfect and it was not planned. It just happened and I am thanking the universe.”
The actor further revealed how she bagged the role for Laapataa Ladies. She revealed, “I had a performance in front of Aamir sir. I had performed a little audition scene in front of him. And everyone liked it, and then I got locked for the role. I think within a month, everything was locked.” Simultaneously, Pratibha Ranta was working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi. Drawing comparisons, she exclaimed, “When I went to shoot for Heeramandi, I was able to experience a different world.”
