Sharmin’s lineage is steeped in Hindi cinema. She is the daughter of film editor Bela Segal and studio executive Deepak Segal. Furthermore, she is the granddaughter of the legendary Hindi director Mohan Segal. She is also the niece of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who directed her in Heeramandi. She has further enriched her experiences by working under her uncle Sanjay Leela Bhansali as an assistant director. Additionally, Sharmin worked on major projects including Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Mary Kom, and Bajirao Mastani. Sharmin Segal graduated from the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York in 2019.
