After a successful theatrical run, Premalu is now available for streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar in Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam. The first installment charmed audiences with its take on a new-age romance, setting high expectations for its sequel. Recently, the makers unveiled a new poster confirming the release.
Directed by Girish AD, Premalu premiered in theaters on February 9, 2024 in the Malayalam language. Later makers unveiled its Telugu and Tamil versions in theaters following its success. The film cast includes Naslen K. Gafoor, Mamitha Baiju, Akhila Bhargavan, Shyam Mohan, and others in significant roles. Premalu’s synopsis on IMDb reads, “Sachin pursues romance but finds himself caught between two potential partners, leading to amusing complications.”
In terms of box office performance, Premalu grossed over $1.5 million in net India’s collections in its first week. Additionally, its total collection over 52 days amounted to $8.8 million across all languages. Globally, Premalu accumulated around $15.4 million. However, it is essential to note these figures are sourced from the industry tracker, sacnilk and may differ from producers’ figures.
When will Mamitha Baiju’s Premalu 2 come out?
Bhavana Studios, the makers of Premalu, recently took to their official Instagram account to announce the sequel. Alongside the Premalu 2 poster, they captioned, “The Biggest rom-com blockbuster ever in Malayalam Cinema will be back in 2025! Let’s Premalu2.” Notably, the sequel’s announcement was also made during the success event of the first installment.
During this event, director Girish described the sequel, stating, “I can’t say much about Premalu 2 but I can confirm that it will be more fun and energetic than the first part.”
Furthermore, Girish assured the audience that the upcoming sequel is far better than its first installment. Although the poster indicates a 2025 release, the makers have not disclosed a specific date. As anticipation builds, it will be interesting to see when the pre-production of the sequel begins and what updates unfold in the coming days.
