The upcoming movie Kannappa is touted as Vishnu Manchu‘s most ambitious project. Besides playing the titular role, Manchu has also penned the storyline based on Lord Shiva’s greatest devotee. The mythological film also boasts an ensemble cast, including some of the biggest stars. Earlier, Prabhas was slated to portray Lord Shiva, but, as per the latest report, the actor has demanded a different role.
Along with Vishnu Manchu and Prabhas, Mohanlal, Mohan Babu, Nayanthara, Shiva Rajkumar, and Madhubala have been roped in for key roles. The latest addition to the movie’s star cast is speculated to be Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar. Following the release of Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, he recently landed in Hyderabad for the film’s shoot.
Prabhas to not play Lord Shiva in Kannappa?
According to a report by Gulte, Prabhas’ team has requested the makers of Kannappa for a change in plan. Initially, it was allegedly decided that the Baahubali star would portray Lord Shiva, while Nayanthara would essay on the role of Parvathi.
The upcoming sci-fi dystopian drama Kalki 2898 AD also has Prabhas playing a role similar to Sri Maha Vishnu. The actor does not want to play similar roles in two of his movies and has allegedly demanded a different part. Per the report, he has now been given the role of Nandeeswarudu, and Akshay Kumar will portray Lord Shiva.
Prabhas is expected to join the movie’s shoot after he wraps up Kalki 2898 AD. The makers of Kannappa are aiming for a pan-India release. Fans are excited about the project with the inclusion of actors from various industries. Helmed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, AVA Entertainment and 24 Frames Factory are bankrolling the movie.
Kannappa is expected to have heavy VFX visuals catered by facilities across India, the UK, and Singapore. The film will most probably be released in 2025.
