For those who may not recall, Mirzapur Season 2 concluded with the demise of Munna Bhaiya, (played by Divyenndu). Additionally, the character Sharad saves Akhandanand Tripathi from an attack by Guddu Bhaiya and Golu. This leads to the continuation of this franchise.
Recently, Amazon Prime Video released a combined teaser for the upcoming web series, which included a glimpse of Mirzapur. The teaser featured prominent cast members such as Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Rasika Dugal, Vijay Varma, and Isha Talwar. In the teaser, Kaleen Bhaiya poses a cryptic question to the audience, “Bhool toh nahi gaye humein? (Hope you haven’t forgotten us?)” leaving fans intrigued about what lies ahead.
Adding to the excitement, Amazon Prime also unveiled a poster featuring a burning chair with the caption, “Guddu and Golu are pitted against a new contender as they stake their claim to the throne. Will they pass the baptism of fire, or will external forces seek to destroy the seat of power forever.”
Divyenndu on his Mirzapur Season 3 appearance
Despite fans’ hopes for Munna Bhaiya’s return, recently Divyenndu delivered disappointing news for fans. In a recent interview with Humans of Bombay, he said, “On Humans of Bombay, I shall declare, I am not a part of ‘Mirzapur Season 3.”
Reflecting on his portrayal of Munna, he shared, “When I was in character, it was affecting my personality a lot. We shouldn’t over-romanticise going too deep into a character, because it is not easy. At times, it used to get really dark for me. I felt suffocated. It’s so tricky that you don’t even realize that you are in that zone. It’s only when you come out of it do you realize how dark it was.”
This announcement saddened fans of the Mirzapur franchise. Meanwhile, it will be intriguing to see what the upcoming days will unfold.
