Bollywood actress Mrunal Thakur is gearing up for the release of her third Telugu film, Family Star. The actress made her debut in the industry with the 2022 movie Sita Ramam and received a lot of praise for playing a princess. Her second outing in the Telugu cinema was Hi Nanna starring Nani. So far, the actress has been a hit in the Telugu movies, but it was not easy for her at the beginning.
Mrunal recently revealed that she did not want to continue starring in Telugu movies. One of the reasons was the language barrier. Here’s why the actress chose to continue.
Mrunal Thakur reveals her difficulties shooting Telugu movies
Despite her first Telugu movie, Sita Ramam, being a hit, Mrunal Thakur decided not to continue in the industry. During a recent interview with Galatta Plus, the actress recalled feeling “handicapped” as she did not know the language. She continued, “I did have moments where I wanted to give up. I have literally cried, but every drop of tear has brought praise for me.”
Mrunal Thakur further revealed how she worked her way through the movie’s shoot. She would translate her dialogues into English and then into either Hindi or Marathi, her mother tongue. The actress said, “So earlier, I used to write a dialogue in Telugu, translate it into English because it was the only common language between my ADs and then I would translate it into Hindi or Marathi because that is my mother tongue.”
Eventually, it was her Sita Ramam co-star Dulquer Salmaan who helped her. Heaping praise on the actor, Thakur said, “Dulquer is a God’s child. I am not shy to say that I am the president of Dulquer Salmaan fan club because that is how much I admire him. He is so dedicated and not afraid of the language.
“I remember I told him in Kashmir, ‘Sita Ramam is my first and last film in Telugu. I will not do any Telugu film’. He just looked at me and said, ‘We’ll see’. I think one of the reasons why I am today considering Tamil film or Kannada film is probably because of him,” she added.
Mrunal Thakur will be seen sharing the screen space with Vijay Deverakonda in Family Star. The movie will hit the theaters on April 5.
