Prithviraj Sukumaran’s latest Malayalam survival drama, Aadujeevitham, aka The Goat Life, is receiving much praise. From the movie’s plot to the acting, fans are in awe of the effort its makers put in. The movie has brought a true heart-wrenching story of an Indian laborer to the silver screens. It follows the laborer’s hardship during his time in a Middle Eastern country. Sukumaran has played the role of Najeeb Muhammed, the real-life laborer whose life has been narrated in the movie.
What happens to Najeeb at the far? Does Najeeb escape the bizarre conditions? Here are the movie’s spoilers and ending explained.
Why does Najeeb go to Saudi Arabia?
Aadujeevitham begins with Najeeb and Hakeem, two Indian laborers, reaching a country in the Middle East. Excited about the job, they wait for someone to meet them. However, almost an entire day passes, and nobody comes to pick them up. Finally, when an Arab comes to them, they blindly trust him and get into his car. When they head to the desert, they finally realize that their future in the new country will not be pleasant. Hakeem is forcefully separated from Najeeb, and their passport is taken. Najeeb is taken to a farm to herd camels and goats in the middle of a desert. Here’s when they realize that they were wronged by the person who took money from them for their visas.
Najeeb meets only one Hindi-speaking man on the farm and is taken aback by his living conditions. The locals refuse to help Najeeb and start treating him like a slave. He is neither given proper food nor clothes and is left to work throughout the day. As he spends some time in the bizarre conditions, he makes several attempts to escape the farm. However, all his attempts fail. While the farm owner terrorizes him, an armed guard always has his eye on him.
During one of his trips, while herding goats, an unrecognizable Najeeb hears someone singing in pain. He has not taken a bath in years and become meek due to his living conditions. When he follows the voice, he finds it is none other than Hakeem singing. As the two finally reunite, they plan to escape the farm.
Aadujeevitham ending explained: Does Najeeb return home?
One fine day, the farm owner left the farm for a wedding, which gave Najeeb a window to escape. When the owner left, Hakeem and an African man named Ibrahim Kadri, who had offered to help them, came to pick Najeeb up. The three of them then began their struggle-filed journey to find the road. Kadri, who knew the way to the road, guided them. However, as the conditions worsened, their health also began to deteriorate.
While Najeeb lost his shoe, Hakeem began to hallucinate. His two pals tried to keep him alive, but it did not help. He soon went into hemorrhage and started oozing blood from his mouth. A sudden sandstorm worsened the condition, and Najeeb saw Hakeem’s body submerging in the desert.
Najeeb and Kadri kept on moving toward the road and even found water. However, after one night, Kadri was nowhere to be found. Najeeb soon got a lift from another local, this time a kind-hearted one, to a Malayali restaurant. The residents helped him recover, and he even talked to his family back in India. However, he had to surrender to the local authorities as he had no visa.
Najeeb was delighted to see life in jail as it was much better than the farm he had escaped. He spent some time in prison before he was finally deported to India. Aadujeevitham comes to its end when Najeeb meets his family, who are delighted to see him after two years of torture.
