The excitement surrounding Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday, and R Madhavan’s upcoming film escalated when the latest reports confirmed the title of the project. According to the report, amidst discussion and deliberation, the makers zeroed in on Shankara. The name resonated with a Pan-India appeal, encompassing the essence of the storyline.
A source revealed, “The film is indeed being titled Shankara. This name will be officially mentioned in the next press release. Or asset of the film is unveiled by the makers.”
Shankara promises to transport audiences to the turbulent era following the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. It chronicles a lawyer’s courageous battle against the oppressive British Raj to unveil the truth behind the events of 1919. In detail, Shankara is a biopic of the lawyer and statesman Chettur Sankaran Nair. The film will be based on the book The Case That Shook The Empire. The source material is written by Raghu Palat, Nair’s great-grandson, along with his wife Pushpa Palat.
During the film’s announcement, Karan Johar expressed his excitement and honor in backing a project of such significance. He stated, “I am extremely excited and honored to back the film that will unravel the legendary courtroom battle that Sankaran Nair fought against the British Raj to uncover the truth about the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre.”
Additionally, actor Alexx O’Nell, who features in Shankara, further shed light on the project. He revealed that a significant chunk of the shoot is still pending. Nonetheless, the team will dedicate itself to delivering a profound cinematic experience.
