Following the immense success of Kantara, anticipation is high for its prequel, Kantara A Legend Chapter 1. As fans eagerly await the continuation of the saga, recently, an OTT giant revealed that the prequel will be available for digital streaming on their platform.
Rishab Shetty directed the prequel as well, and it is set for a theatrical release in late 2024. The first-look teaser for Kantara A Legend Chapter 1 was unveiled on November 27, 2023, introducing audiences to a new trident-wielding character and promising to explore the origins of Panjurli Daiva, a divine spirit.
Where is Kantara: Chapter 1 coming out for OTT?
On March 19, 2024, Amazon Prime Video officially announced that Kantara Chapter 1 would be available on its platform after its theatrical release. Through its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the OTT giant teased, “There is no calamity greater than lavish desires. Such a calamity caused by a petty king ignites a rage in the heart of God’s chosen tribal leader. #Kantara available post-theatrical release.”
At the Amazon Prime event, Rishab revealed some new details about its prequel. He took the mic and said, “I started my acting career from here, which I performed when I performed when I was in the 6th standard. Our village’s story and folklore should be taken to the big screen. When I was in my second year of college, this story was in my mind. When I became a filmmaker, I developed a screenplay properly. Before shooting the film, our plan was that a prequel is going to be shot. We also got a huge support from the audience.”
He concluded by saying, “We have set up a big set in our village now. We will be shooting there next month.”
With Kantara’s prequel gearing up for production, fans eagerly anticipate the release of its trailer. It will be interesting to see how the saga unfolds on both the big screen and digital platforms.
