It has been two years since SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR hit the theaters and its buzz has not decreased since then. The movie was a massive hit and shattered many box office records. The film was a smash hit not only in India but across the globe. However, the film’s craze in Japan is unmatchable. RRR’s team dedicated a lot of time to promoting the film in Japan and received immense love. RRR is a fictional story of two revolutionary freedom fighters played by Ram Charan and Jr NTR. The movie shows how the two get together to fight against the British government. Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, and Shriya Saran also played supporting characters in the film.
Will SS Rajamouli attend a special RRR screening in Japan?
RRR has been running in Japanese theaters for more than one and a half years now. For the unversed, the period drama was released in the Land of the Rising Sun on October 21, 2022. When it was revealed that SS Rajamouli, the director, would be attending a show, its tickets were sold out in a few moments.
The special show’s advance bookings opened on March 13 and in less than a minute no tickets were available. The show is scheduled for March 18, 2024.
RRR’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle confirmed the news. Resharing a picture of a sold-out theater chart, the makers wrote, “It’s been close to 1.5 years since the theatrical release in Japan. Since then, it’s still running in theaters, and the show on March 18th sold out in less than a minute. Absolute RRRAMPAGE…”
RRR won several international accolades following its successful theatrical run. Apart from Golden Globe Awards and a Critics’ Choice Movie Award, the film’s track Naatu Naatu won an Oscar in the Best Original Song category.
