Directed by Pa. Ranjith, the film features Vikram as a warrior, along with Malavika Mohanan, Parvathy Thiruvothu, and Daniel Caltagirone, among others, in supporting roles. Thangalaan marks Vikram’s next project after Ponniyin Selvan 1 and 2. Apart from this, on Pongal, makers revealed that it will be released in April 2024. What is Vikram starrer Thangalaan’s story?
Thangalaan’s teaser offered a glimpse of the rugged look of Vikram and other characters, promising a historical action-drama. According to the Hindustan Times, the movie explores the real experiences behind the Kolar Gold Field in Karnataka. It further unfolds why India was called ‘Sone Ki Chidiya’ (Golden Bird) and how Britishers looted one of the biggest mines in the world. As per sources, around 900 tonnes of gold was exported by Britisher from KGF to England.
Additionally, the story primarily focuses on the role of residents around KGF who fought against Britishers to save the gold field from exploitation. To put authenticity in storytelling, the makers shot the film at the real location of KGF. Also, they chose the villages near it to shoot the entire film. Earlier, actor Vikram also revealed that the atmospheric condition of the shooting location is quite hot and humid. So, it’s hard to shoot at the original location.
Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see how the makers deliver this real story-based masterpiece on the big screens.
