Vidyut Jammwal’s Khuda Haafiz was released on August 14, 2020. The Hindi-language action thriller is written and directed by Faruk Kabir. The adrenaline-pumping film is produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak under Panorama Studios.
Khuda Haafiz is set against the backdrop of the 2007-08 financial crisis. It follows the story of Sameer Chaudhary (played by Vidyut Jammwal) who embarks on a mission to rescue his kidnapped wife, Nargis, from flesh traders. As time ticks away, Sameer’s efforts plunge him into a dangerous race against the clock.
The action-thriller also stars Shivaleeka Oberoi, Annu Kapoor, Aahana Kumra, and Shiv Panditt in pivotal roles. Their performance adds depth and intensity to the narrative of Khuda Haafiz.
The film premiered on Disney+ Hotstar and garnered mixed reviews. However, Khuda Haafiz emerged as a resounding success on the streaming platform. It captivated audiences with its gripping narrative and compelling performances.
Why did Sameer stay back in India?
In 2007, Sameer Chaudhary, a software engineer, marries Nargis. However, they lose their jobs during the financial crisis in 2008. After three months of struggle, they find jobs in a fictional Middle Eastern country called Noman. Nadeem, who works at an overseas recruitment company, helps them land the positions. Nargis moves to Noman first, while Sameer stays behind in India to wait for his documents.
Later, Sameer receives a call from Nargis. She’s in a panic and tells him that someone is kidnapping her. After this, Sameer rushes to Noman to save his wife. He meets a taxi driver named Usman Hamid Ali Murad. Usman takes Sameer to the address given by Nadeem. However, they find out that it doesn’t exist. They go to the police station where they learn that Nadeem is also missing.
Unable to get help from the police, Sameer goes to the Indian Embassy. He pretends that he is a telecom company employee and accesses the address of the person Nargis contacted. They learn that the individual, Shirazi, is a part of human trafficking. Usman helps Sameer search brothels to find Nargis. In the midst, a fight breaks out and Sameer kills some men. As a result, he is arrested by the Indian Embassy.
Sameer tells the cops what happened. A Nomani cop named Faiz Abu Malik and officer Tamena decide to help him. They review the CCTV footage. In the clip, they see Nargis getting in a van with a man. They identify him as Iztek. He orders his men to kill Nargis. Following the clues, they find a burnt corpse. Sameer is devastated, thinking that it is Nargis. At her funeral, Sameer gets compensation for his loss and tickets to return to India.
Khuda Haafiz ending: Was Sameer able to save Nargis?
Tamena discovers that Nargis is alive. She learns that the corpse they found was not hers. Tamena and Faiz look for Sameer to let him know. However, he has left. Meanwhile, Sameer confronts Iztek. He learns that his wife is alive. Faiz and Tamena also arrive at the scene. They learn that Faiz is Iztek’s ally.
Tamena fights Faiz, giving Sameer a chance to excape. However, Faiz kills her and frames him. Sameer fights Faiz and wins. He frees Nargis and other women imprisoned by Iztek. Faiz is given a state funeral for her heroic actions. Faiz is sentenced to death. Sameer and Nargis prepare to leave for India, saying goodbye to Usman. They invite him to visit them in India before boarding the plane.
