Mammootty, the undisputed megastar of Malayalam cinema, once again graced the silver screen with the latest movie, Bramayugam. Directed by Rahul Sadasivan, known for his work in Bhoothakaalam, recently opened up about whether there will be a Bramayugam sequel. Additionally, he discussed whether Bramayugam is scary or not.
Bramayugam ending: Mammootty’s latest movie might have a sequel
Bramayugam wrapped its debut weekend with a resounding triumph, clinching blockbuster status at the box office. The fusion of Mammootty’s enigmatic presence, Rahul Sadasivan’s directorial prowess, and the unconventional black-and-white cinematography left audiences and critics alike in awe.
Moreover, due to Bramayugam’s open-ended ending, viewers are left wondering whether there will be a sequel or not. Director Rahul Sadasivan addressed these speculations in a recent interview with Kaumudy Movies. He emphasized that the film was originally conceived “as a single film.” However, he tantalizingly hinted at the potential for a sequel in the future, keeping the door ajar for fans to dream of what might come next.
Furthermore, the director added, “I invested my whole energy in that film and that energy is over. The ending has been crafted in such a way that it’s left to interpretation. A sequel might or might not happen.”
Rahul Sadasivan also shed light on whether Bramayugam is scary or not, as concerns arose when initial posters and teasers received remarkable feedback. Based on the same and the director’s previous work, viewers expected the film to be a horror classic. However, it’s not the case. Sadasivan clarified, “I would call it a mystery thriller or psychological thriller with horror elements. It’s not a conventional horror film that will give you chills all the time.”
Furthermore, commenting on the audiences’ reaction after the poster and teaser reveal, he added, “People began assuming that it would scare them a lot, probably because of my previous film, Bhoothakalam. Since Bramayugam is not intended to scare people that much, we decided to emphasize it as much as possible.”
In conclusion, while Bramayugam 2 is not currently in the cards, the door remains ajar for the possibility of a sequel.
