Rituraj Singh, a versatile TV actor best known for his role as Yashpal in Anupamaa (2020), passed away on Monday, February 19, after a cardiac arrest.
The actor was born in 1964 in Rajasthan, and his acting career started in 1992 with the English film Miss Beatty’s Children. He became known for several roles he portrayed in Indian TV shows, such as Banegi Apni Baat, Jyoti, Hitler Didi, Shapath, Warrior High, Aahat, Adaalat, and Diya Aur Baati Hum. He also portrayed the role of Balwant Choudhary in Laado 2. In Bollywood, Rituraj Singh starred in Varun Dhawan’s Badrinath ki Dulhania (2017) and John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate 2 (2021).
A close friend of the late actor, Amit Behl, confirmed his death. He was 59 and was suffering from pancreatic disease. The actor is survived by his wife, Charu Singh, son Adhiraaj and daughter Jahaan.

As per the reports, Rituraj Singh died on Monday night, February 19, 2024. He was recently hospitalized after suffering from a pancreatic disease. Actor Amit Behl said, “He had been hospitalised due to some stomach issues and was discharged a few days ago. He passed away around 12.30 am at his home due to a cardiac arrest.”
The news of the actor’s sudden demise came as a shock to the entertainment industry. Several actors took to their social media to mourn the loss. Actor Arshad Warsi wrote, “I am so saddened to know that Ritu Raj passed away. We lived in the same building, he was a part of my first film as a producer. Lost a friend and a great actor… will miss you brother…”
Rituraj Singh had started his career with the same theatre group as actor Shah Rukh Khan. Shweta Basu Prasad, who co-starred with him in Badrinath Ki Dulhania, talked about her experience working with him. She shared, “When we were shooting for Badrinath, I remember Rituraj sir was walking and I overheard someone say, “You know back in the day, in 90’s Shah Rukh Khan would copy/would be inspired by the way he walked… He was the coolest in the gang. He had that natural swag.”
Milap Zaveri, who directed him in Satyameva Jayate 2, said, “He was so full of life, and so passionate about his work. He used to rehearse all his dialogues well in advance with me and John. Genuinely was a pleasure working with him. A gentleman and a great actor. His passing away is A huge loss.”
