Fighter, starring the brand-new pair Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan, has plummeted again on box-office collection on day 12. After a lackluster first week, the film finally saw a resurgence in its second weekend, only to face another setback on its second Monday.
Fighter box office collection day 12: Deepika Padukone, Hrithik Roshan’s movie earns $403K
Fighter, one of the most highly anticipated movies of 2024, struggled to maintain its momentum on its twelfth day at the box office. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the movie recorded a box-office collection of $403.2K (early estimates) on Day 12. This recent earning marked a major dip from its Sunday figures, which was $1.5 million. This downturn brings the total net domestic collections to $21.4 million.
The film’s ambitious journey towards the coveted $24 million milestone now appears to be an uphill battle. After all, day 12 recorded a more than 50% fall from Sunday’s collection. Despite crossing the $36 million mark worldwide on Sunday, Fighter faces a challenging domestic box-office journey.
As mentioned earlier, Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan’s latest movie’s global performance paints a different picture. Despite the dip in Indian collection, the movie managed to earn $3.7 million in its opening weekend in the United States. As it is, securing the seventh spot on Comscore’s list of top films in North America.
Meanwhile, director Siddharth Anand recently shed light on several factors contributing to Fighter’s lukewarm box-office performance. He acknowledged that the decision to release the film on a working day, January 25, 2024, posed challenges.
Additionally, he emphasized the need for filmmakers, including himself, to reassess their expectations. Highlighting Pathaan’s success just a year prior may have heightened those expectations.
As Fighter gears up to face competition from the Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon starrer Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, it will be interesting to see with what collection the movie ends its box-office run.
