Salaar Ending: Why did Radha Rama declare Ceasefire?
In Salaar, Raj Mannar had expressed a desire for Vardha to hold a legislative position since Rudra was already a Sardar. He didn’t like that Vardha lived like an outsider in his own land. So, Raj Mannar decides to ask Ranga to give his constituency to Vardha. Although Ranga didn’t want to, he did anyway, as he didn’t have the courage to go against his Karta. When Raj Mannar was preparing to leave Khansaar, he asked his daughter, Radha Rama, to take care of everything in his absence.
On the other hand, Rudra, Ranga, Narang, Vishnu, and a few others decide to kill Vardha before Raj Mannar’s return. When they waged a war against Vardha and his men, Radha Rama ordered a ceasefire. But as per the constitution of Khansaar, if the consensus was against the ceasefire, then it couldn’t be declared by the Karta. So, Ranga challenges Radha’s decision. It was then decided that the total number of votes would hold the future of the ceasefire. Since Ranga, Rudra, and others were certain that they would win, they started building their army.
What did Vardha decide?
The council of ministers votes for and against the declaration of the ceasefire. Since both sides had equal votes, Vardha was asked to break the tie with his vote. Although Vardha was expected to vote in favor of the ceasefire, he voted against it. So, people thought he had signed his own death warrant. But they didn’t know that he had Deva/Salaar on his side. With Deva’s help, he knew that he would be able to overcome any obstacle.
On the other side, Deva and Vardha killed hundreds of mercenaries together and were not looking to stop. Even after achieving victory, Vardha declared that he was not finished and wanted to become the Karta of Khansaar, replacing his father. The greed in his eyes was visible, and even Deva’s companionship seemed unclear.
What did Raj Mannar learn about Deva?
Raj Mannar knew that someday, his own people would rebel against him. He knew that violence meant nothing to the citizens of Khansaar. Since the state of civil unrest was happening on a much larger scale, certain secrets held the potential to entirely change the dynamics of things. Firstly, there was news of the Shouryaanga clan being alive and then their plans to overthrow Manaar’s regime. They were all waiting for the right opportunity to strike and believed it was about time to move toward their goal aggressively.
Towards the end of Salaar, it was revealed that Deva was Dhaara Raisaar’s son and also the rightful heir to the throne. Dhaara Raisaar was the chief of the Shouryaanga tribe and was touted to be the next king of Khansaar in 1985. Now, the predicament remains that Deva had sworn to protect Vardha and help him become the Karta of Khansaar one day.
In the second installment of the franchise, it will be known if Deva lives up to his pledge or if he has a change of heart and takes over Khansaar, going against his own friend.
Stream Salaar in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu on Netflix.
