Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming highly anticipated larger-than-life movie Ramayana’s stellar casting is taking shape. As per reports, Lara Dutta is gearing up to don Princess Kaikeyi. Meanwhile, Bobby Deol contemplates stepping into the shoes of Kumbhkaran.
Ramayana Cast: Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi & Bobby Deol as Kumbhkaran
Nitesh Tiwari, the visionary director behind Ramayana, is leaving no stone unturned in to bring the timeless characters of Indian history to life. According to Pinkvilla, Lara Dutta is in advanced negotiation to portray the pivotal role of Princess Kaikeyi.
A source close to the development revealed, “Nitesh Tiwari wants to cast actors who are apt to play the characters belonging to the most timeless tale of Indian History. He feels Lara Dutta is perfect to play the part of Princess Kaikeyi, the third consort of King Dasharatha.”
It further added, “It’s a pivotal character that leads to the entire conflict in Ramayana, and Lara is excited to entire the fantastical world of Nitesh Tiwari.” Lara is expected to join Ranbir Kapoor in the first schedule of the film, set to commence in March.
Whereas, as per reports, Bobby Deol is currently contemplating the offer to essay the role of Kumbhkaran. The sources reveal that Nitesh Tiwari and his team are eagerly awaiting Bobby’s decision.
The source shared, “Bobby is yet to get back to Nitesh Tiwari on Ramayana. He might or might not do the film, and will take a call in the next 2 months. Post the success of Animal, Bobby is right now flooded with offers from across the industry and he will be making his choices over the coming few months.”
Furthermore, along with the above-mentioned, Sunny Deol and Yash are also reportedly joining the ensemble cast in cameo appearances.
The trilogy’s first part, Ramayana: Part One, is gearing up to release in the second half of 2025.
