What happened in Manoj Bajpayee & Konkona Sen’s latest series?
Set in Mainjur City, Killer Soup follows Swathi’s audacious con, where an extramarital affair with a masseur, Umesh, leads to the untimely murder of her husband, Prabhakar “Prabhu” Shetty.
The intricate plot involves a cover-up using acid attacks, mistaken identities, and a series of crimes that escalate as Swathi and Umesh navigate through several challenges to conceal multiple murders.
Swathi’s dream of opening a restaurant becomes the driving force behind her actions despite her lack of cooking skills. Her determination to cling to Prabhu’s wealth and promises, even after his death, showcases her struggle. After all, her aspirations rarely reconcile with the harsh reality of her choices.
Chaos ensues as Swati accidentally kills her husband and watches the private investigator hired by him getting crushed in a tragic road accident. Afterward, her lover, Umesh, dons her dead husband’s persona and watches a police officer, who uncovered her truth, fall off a cliff. In addition, Prabhu’s brother, Arvind, dies at the hands of his own daughter. Killer soup has all the ingredients that make it a binge-watch-worthy entertainer.
Killer Soup ending: Did Swathi and Umesh die?
With an unexpected turn of events, Appu inherited Arvind’s wealth. She delivers on her promise and gives Swathi a chance to start her own restaurant. However, the mishappenings seemed to have caught Swathi’s tail.
Before her dream came true, Swathi had to silence all the fingers pointing at her as the murderer. Unintentionally, she silenced most of them. However, one struck out. Prabhu was having an affair with Kirtima, who, as Killer Soup unfolded, seemed to have caught up on Swathi’s family turmoil. However, she, like others, dies as well.
But this struck a chord with Umesh, who has been with Swathi since the beginning of her killing spree. He had developed a soft corner for Kirtima. Now, with all the emotions boiling up, Umesh decided to tell the truth on the opening day of Swathi’s restaurant.
However, he had chugged a glassful of paya soup with a secret ingredient which, if given a handful, can lead to death. Guess what? More than the needed amount of secret ingredient accidentally fell in his paya soup.
He powers through the truth-telling speech, but the ingredient catches up, and he violently spits blood out of his mouth. By now, the police had already learned the truth. Meanwhile, everyone escorts Umesh to the hospital, who soon after disappears from the vehicle upon reaching, while Hassan stays to take Swathi to jail.
She is aware of how everything she has done so far has finally caught up, and she won’t be able to live out her dream. So she jumps off the cliff as Hassan watches her.
However, the series concludes with a surreal twist. Swathi and Umesh mysteriously reappear on a bus, seemingly running away, which the latter had insisted on from the start. This ending of Killer Soup has left many wondering whether it is a symbol of their tragic demise or a hint at a possible sequel.
