Dunki Oscar nominations: Rajkumar Hirani might submit SRK movie for Oscars

Recent reports suggest that director Rajkumar Hirani is considering submitting Dunki for the upcoming Oscars. The movie’s makers have not yet officially confirmed the submission. However, if the reports turn out to be true, then Dunki will mark Shah Rukh Khan’s third movie submitted for the Oscar nominations. In 2004, his movie Swades was submitted for the Oscars. Following this, in 2005, Paheli was also submitted for an Oscar nomination.

Despite clashing with Prabhas’ blockbuster, Salaar, Dunki has managed to win hearts and garner good box office numbers. In 20 days, the movie has collected over $26 million at the domestic box office and over $52 million at the worldwide box office.

During a recent interview, director Rajkumar Hirani revealed that Shah Rukh Khan knew Dunki would not achieve the same level of box office success as Pathaan and Jawan. He said, “He had always told me not to expect huge numbers at the box office initially. He knew it was a slow burner, and the audience and family would eventually lap up to the film and start coming in. More than anyone, he was preparing me, and that is what exactly happened. We have seen many families coming together to theatres to watch the film.”

Watch Dunki in theatres now.
