Allu Arjun is all set to reprise his role as the furious Pushpa Raj in the upcoming film Pushpa 2. Movie buffs are eager to know what director Sukumar has in store for the sequel and how he will shape the story. In the first installment, Pushpa Raj, who faced hardships all his life, becomes a red sandalwood smuggler. As a result, he makes several enemies in his struggle-filled journey. As there are still months left in Pushpa 2’s release, discussions around its OTT rights have already begun.
Amazon Prime Video secured the OTT rights of the first installment in the film series, Pushpa: The Rise. The digital platform allegedly paid the makers a whopping $3.6 million to secure its rights. While the same platform was expected to crack a deal for Pushpa 2, things took a drastic turn because Netflix allegedly jumped in with a bigger offer.
Pushpa 2 OTT rights price out
As per Deccan Chronicle, Amazon Prime Video is seemingly behind in the race for bagging Pushpa 2 OTT rights. Netflix has allegedly offered three times the amount the first installment’s rights were sold at. The new amount that the OTT giant has offered is reportedly a whopping $12 million.
Netflix is known for bagging the streaming rights of successful movie series and shows. This time, it seems that the OTT giant is not backing down and trying to buy the rights with its complete potential. As a result, it would be interesting who will win the battle. However, these reports have not been confirmed by either the makers or the streaming service. An official announcement is awaited.
Mythri Movie Makers are producing the film at a whopping budget. Rashmika Mandanna will reprise the role of Srivalli, while Fahadh Faasil will play the lead antagonist. Pushpa 2 is currently under production and is set to hit theaters on August 15, 2024.
