Prabhas‘ upcoming film Kalki 2898 AD has raised curiosity among viewers ever since its first visuals were released. In the upcoming movie, the actors will be seen in never-seen-before roles. The movie is considered a mythological science fiction dystopian film, featuring an ensemble cast. While fans have many questions regarding the movie, some also compare it with the famous film series Star Wars. The director has now addressed the rumors about it being inspired by Star Wars.
Kalki 2898 AD features an ensemble cast. Apart from the Baahubali star, the film features celebrated names from different cinemas. Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan, and divas Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani have key roles in the film. Tamil star Kamal Haasan is also playing a major role in the movie.
Nag Ashwin refuses to call Kalki 2898 AD India’s Star Wars
Kalki 2898 AD is currently in production, and fans have several questions about it. Nag Ashwin is directing the film and recently answered a few fans’ queries. As per Indian Express, the director attended IIT Bombay’s Tech Fest ’23 and revealed that more details about the film will be revealed with its release date. However, the director confirmed that Star Wars did not inspire Kalki in 2898 AD. Rather than calling the film ‘India’s Star Wars,’ he called it ‘India’s Kalki.’
When some movie buffs asked him if there would be a sequel to the movie, Ashwin neither denied nor agreed to anything. He also revealed that he has not created a universe with Kalki 2898 AD at the moment. Ashwin said, “I hope it all works out and looks good. Creating a VFX-heavy movie in India is undoubtedly challenging, but I believe things are improving, and we are getting closer to achieving our vision.”
