These movies, whether released on OTT platforms or in theaters, surpassed all expectations and are a must-watch. From Gumraah to Minus 30: The Nagpur Files, here’s a list of the best Hindi crime thriller movies of 2023:
Gumraah

A crime thriller that had the best twists and turns, Gumraah had the audience glued to their screens. Directed by Vardhan Ketkar, the movie stars Aditya Roy Kapur in a dual role along with Mrunal Thakur and Ronit Roy. T-Series Films and Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios produced the movie.
Gumraah is a remake of the Tamil movie Thadam (2019). It revolves around a murder investigation that becomes more complicated after the police discover the two suspects’ lookalike. The movie had a theatrical release on April 7, 2023, and was available for streaming on Netflix on June 4, 2023.
Aazam

Shravan Tiwari wrote and directed Aazam, an underrated crime thriller that is sure to keep the audience on the edge of their seats. The movie features Jimmy Sheirgill, Abhimanyu Singh, Indraneil Sengupta, and Raza Murad. BMX Motion Pictures produced the movie.
The movie’s premise is set in the Mumbai underworld, revolving around a mafia don’s quest to find the ideal successor while conspiracies, betrayal, and deceit take place. Aazam was released in theatres on May 26, 2023, and it has yet to premiere on OTT.
Haddi

Directed by Akshat Ajay Sharma, Haddi is known for Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s mesmerizing performance. The crime drama also stars Anurag Kashyap, Ila Arun, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Saurabh Sachdeva, Shridhar Dubey, and Rajesh Kumar, among others. Zee Studios, along with Anandita Studios, produced the movie.
Haddi revolves around a transgender who moves to Delhi and joins a gang of transgenders and cross-dressers headed by an influential man. But this move turns from aspiration to revenge.
The movie was released on September 7, 2023, on ZEE5.
Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga

Ajay Singh directed Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga, a suspense-filled crime and heist thriller. It stars Yami Gautam and Sunny Kaushal along with Sharad Kelkar, Indraneil Sengupta and Barun Chanda. Maddock Films produced the movie.
Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga revolves around a flight attendant and her boyfriend who plan to steal diamonds to clear an old debt. But due to being 40,000 feet above the ground, their heist goes wrong and turns into a hostage situation.
The movie released on March 24, 2023, directly for streaming, on Netflix.
Minus 31: The Nagpur Files

Minus 31: The Nagpur Files offers the perfect blend of classic whodunnit with a contemporary social commentary. Pratik Moitro wrote, produced, and directed the neo-noir crime thriller. It stars Rucha Inamdar, Shivankit Singh Parihar and Raghubir Yadav in pivotal roles.
The movie’s premise revolves around an important murder investigation amidst the second wave of the COVID pandemic. An impulsive cop uncovers the dark realities of the system but also finds her true self.
