Nani and Mrunal Thakur recently took the audience on a rollercoaster ride of emotions with their latest movie, Hi Nanna. The romance drama turned out to be an entertaining one for families. However, its twists and turns kept the audience hooked. The audience seemingly connected to the light-hearted film on a deeper level and enjoyed it thoroughly. The film’s story revolves around a doting single father who refrains from telling his daughter anything about her mother. However, destiny has different plans and he is forced to tell his daughter the truth.
Hi Nanna marks the first collaboration between Nani and Mrunal Thakur. It is also Thakur’s third project in the South and the audience is thrilled to see her paired with Nani. Shouryuv directed the movie and Vyra Entertainments produced it.
Hi Nanna: plot, central characters and more
The movie revolves around a fashion photographer named Viraj, played by Nani. Viraj spends his day clicking pictures of models and the rest of it is spent doing his daily chores as a single father. His six-year-old daughter Mahi, portrayed by Baby Kiara, is suffering from a rare disease, cystic fibrosis. Despite Mahi’s many requests, Viraj does not tell her anything about her mother. But one day, when Mahi goes missing, she comes across Yashna, played by Mrunal Thakur. Mahi and Yashna then both urge Viraj to open up about his past and he does.
Viraj tells Mahi how he met Varsha in Coonoor and fell in love with her. They even tied the knot and three years later, they welcomed Mahi. Viraj reveals that Varsha was upset about becoming a mother and after suffering an accident, she died. Later, it turns out that Varsha did not die but lost a part of her memory. Moreover, Spoiler alert! Varsha is none other than Yashna.
As Yashna is unaware of the fact that she is Mahi’s birth mother, she falls for her and Viraj. However, she is already getting married to Dr Aravind (Angad Bedi). Right before her wedding, Mahi tries to meet Yashna, but her mother stops her and tells the six-year-old the truth. Aravind also asks Yashna to stay away from Mahi, but she refuses to listen to him.
While the audience already knew the truth about Yashna, this was the point where they were hooked. Indecent scenes’ absence and the father-daughter love in Hi Nanna make it enjoyable with family. It rightly captures the love and care that parents have for their kids.
Hi Nanna ending: how does the Telugu movie end?
After learning about her birth mom, Mahi’s condition worsens and Viraj takes him to the hospital. Yashna, aka Varsha, leaves her wedding to get away with Mahi and Viraj. Dr. Aravind and his team stepped up to perform Mahi’s crucial surgery. Viraj and Yashna finally express their feelings for each other as they comfort one another. The movie ends with a grown-up Mahi performing, singing, and playing guitar on a stage. This means that Dr. Aravind saved Mahi’s life and she lived happily with her beloved family.
The only complaint that the audience had about the movie was that the truth about Yashna and Varsha was revealed too early. It made the second half a bit heavy for the viewers. However, Nani, Mrunal, and Kiara’s performances were highly praised. They portrayed their respective characters with complete dedication and they did not disappoint. The three of them convinced everyone how a dysfunctional family goes through pain and suffering. The beautiful bond between a mother and a daughter also caught people’s attention. So far, the movie has garnered over a whopping $3.34 million at its worldwide box office.
