Tiger 3’s release strategy stands out in the industry. It is a rare Indian film to have premiered in some international markets on Saturday and others on Sunday. As such, this unconventional choice solidified a blockbuster opening.
North America took the lead, contributing tremendously to the film’s stellar performance. Tiger 3 recorded an outstanding $1.05 million on its opening day, marking the highest-ever debut for a Salman Khan-led film. The film’s collection marked Salman’s second million-dollar day globally, the first being Bajrangi Bhaijaan on a Saturday.
Moving to the Gulf region, Tiger 3 earned an estimated $850K. However, it’s important to note that this figure was achieved despite the film’s show starting on Saturday evening. Furthermore, the film had its own unique challenges. It faced certification issues in Qatar and Oman, leading to a delayed release. Even with these challenges, the film shows its global blockbuster appeal.
Adding to the excitement, Tiger 3 is the first Hindi film in 12 years to release in theaters on Diwali. In a recent interview, Salman Khan stated, “It is always special to have a release in Diwali because I have very fond memories of how the festival has always blessed me with good luck.”
Katrina Kaif echoed the sentiment, saying, “This Diwali is extra special because I have a release in Tiger 3, a film which is about triumph over evil. It’s also my first film with Salman to be releasing on Diwali!”
