Lokesh Kanagaraj‘s Leo debuted in third position at the global box office over the first weekend. The film had its theatrical release on October 19, 2023, and its international release on October 18, 2023. It was released in dubbed versions in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi languages.
The action thriller film is produced by S. S. Lalit Kumar and Jagadish Palanisamy for Seven Screen Studio. Leo stars Thalapathy Vijay alongside Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun, Madonna Sebastian, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mysskin, Mansoor Ali Khan, George Maryan, Priya Anand, and Mathew Thomas.
The story pays homage to David Cronenberg’s A History of Violence (2005). The film is the latest instalment in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU), which began with Kaithi (2019) and continued with Vikram (2022).
Leo has crossed the USD 36 million mark within 11 days of its release at the domestic box office. At the global box office, it has crossed USD 63 million. In the U.S., the film earned USD 2.1 million over the weekend. In the U.K. and Ireland, it collected USD 1.3 million in the first three days of release.
The film is likely to experience the Monday blues at the domestic box office, with an expected dip in collections. According to reports, it will see a 61% drop in collections. On day 12 of its release, Leo’s domestic collection stood at USD 36 million while its worldwide collection stood at USD 64 million.
