CBS Films announced today that Jennifer Chambers Lynch (“The Walking Dead,” the cult favorite Boxing Helena) will direct Hellfest. Gale Anne Hurd (Aliens, “The Walking Dead”) is producing the horror thriller.
In Hellfest, a Halloween night of fun turns deadly at a horror theme park when a costumed killer begins slaying unsuspecting patrons who believe that it’s all part of the show.
“We have loved the concept of ‘Hellfest’ since Gale brought it to us and we have been waiting for exactly the right director,” commented CBS Films President Terry Press. “Jennifer came to us with both the passion and the vision necessary to make ‘Hellfest’ a terrifying Halloween tradition much like the growing phenomenon of the theme park horror nights enjoyed by millions the world over.”
Lynch is represented by Gersh and managed by Fineman Entertainment. Production will begin this winter at an undisclosed theme park. Vice President of Production Alex Ginno and Senior Vice President of Production Mark Ross are overseeing the project for CBS Films. Vice President of Development, Phillip Kobylanski, is shepherding the project for Valhalla Entertainment.
The studio’s latest release, the acclaimed action thriller Hell Or High Water, opens in limited release on Friday.
