Spoken word recording of THE RAVEN features music by GOBLIN’s Maurizio Guarini.
FANGORIA Musick is the fledgling digital (and, on occasion, hard media) music label run by the amazing April Bedan and streaming out of the back-end of FANGORIA.com, the web extension of the venerable magazine that this writer used to serve as editor for.

Today, news of a recent release from FM pricked up my ears, a unique collaboration between Canadian indie filmmaker and actor Anthony D.P. Mann (TERROR OF DRACULA) and keyboard wizard Maurizio Guarini, he of the band GOBLIN and session player for everyone from Fabio Frizzi to Pino Donaggio.
The project is a spoken word vs synth reading and impression of the classic and oft uttered Poe poem “The Raven”, voiced by Mann and featuring new, doom-soaked synth music from Guarini.
From (the) Mann himself:
“Poes haunting tale of a man visited by an unearthly entity – in the guise of the titular raven – has been presented countless times, and this new recording is a unique addition to the canon. Featuring (my) spoken-word performance set against an original musical score created and performed by Guarini, this new Raven is a tone-poem of terror that journeys deep in the texts themes of loss, loneliness and dread.”
THE RAVEN will be available as a download from FANGORIA Musick on April 8th.
