Entertainment Weekly has scored a fresh round of pictures and character scoops from Season 6 of AMC?s zombie phenom The Walking Dead. Check out the images of newcomers Corey Hawkins, Ethan Embry and Merritt Wever in the gallery below!
Series showrunner Scott M. Gimple revealed that Emmy-winner Wever (?Nurse Jackie?) will be taking on the role of Dr. Denise Cloyd, a character from Walking Dead comic books who helps mend some very wounded people in the troubled town of Alexandria. Meanwhile, TV vet Embry (?Grace and Frankie?) will be playing a composite character known as ?Carter.?
?Ethan plays a combo of a few characters that we actually haven?t hit yet or weren?t able to hit in other characters,? said Gimple. ?He is an Alexandrian, and has been there the whole time, just quite busy.?
Finally Hawkins, who will be seen in a few weeks in Universal?s NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton, takes on the role of supply-runner Heath, who in the comic becomes romantically linked to Dr. Cloyd.
?He?s terrific and I?m so excited to see him bring Heath to life,? Gimple says of Hawkins. ?It?s been fun and he dove in with both feet. He?s tough and skeptical when the cameras are rolling, and then when they?re off he?s just like a goofy fan. He?s really, really excited to be there.?
