Michelle and Robert King (pictured top), creators of CBS’ acclaimed drama The Good Wife have a horror-comedy headed the network’s way next year. Braindead, as the series is called, is a political satire about alien spawn controlling Congress and will air its 13-episode season throughout Summer 2016.
Braindead will follow a young staffer on Capitol Hill. Her first employment in D.C. is a real eye-opener however when she discovers “alien spawn” have eaten the brains of Congressman and other Hill Staffers. “We wanted to do a show that was a mix of genre-pulp and high-brow politics The Strain crossed with The West Wing. It seemed like the best way to address the news today not straight, but as the opening act of a horror movie.
There are perhaps shades of They Live here, and it’s exciting to see a new genre series with aspirations of political or societal bite. Here’s hoping it’s good, considering it has to share a title with Peter Jackson’s all-timer and the nutty Adam Simon film.
