The very final moments of Eric England’s 2013 STD body horror film, Contracted delivered an twist, which pushed the filmif just brieflyinto a whole different subgenre. Will Contracted: Phase II follow accordingly, or keep its small portrait of decomposition? Its splattery trailer suggests: both.
Matt Mercer returns in the sequel, now directed by Josh Forbes and written by Craig Walendziak. Mercer once again plays Riley, who if you’ll remember was in pretty direct contact with Contracted‘s viral force Samantha. Riley “is carrying a dangerous disease, as he scrambles to track down those responsible for the outbreak. Riley must find them before the highly contagious disease not only consumes his body, but the world as we know it.”
The Playlist premiered the brand new preview, in which blood flies, guns spew and body parts are stretched right off. IFC Midnight is releasing Contracted: Phase II on September 4th.
