Slither director James Gunn calls The Hive “the most horrifying and disgusting love story ever” in the stylish, intriguing first trailer for the upcoming Nerdist release.
What is The Hive? Something of a subgenre hybrid it seems; a mystery, a summer camp horror, a possession tale with possibly apocalyptic implications. It’s directed by David Yarovesky, and after a Fantastic Fest World Premiere, has been acquired by the ever expanding Nerdist Industries for release this fall. The preview is both familiar and new at once, and hopefully introduces an exciting new voice, despite mixed reaction at last fall’s fest showing.
In the film, Adam, a teenage camp counselor wakes inside a boarded up cabin, with absolutely no memory of who he is or where he is. The only clues as to who he is and whats happening are messages Adam has scrawled for himself onto the walls and disturbing changes to his physiology. As he begins to piece together the events that led him to his strange imprisonment, he realizes that the only memories he does have are not his own, and they may be the key to his survival.
